  1. Well two out of three titles are worth buying. Encore ecould have rebuilt the puzzle and board games. The casino title is built a lot like the card games title, except is the color is green, All inprovements make it worth buying the casino and card games, pass on puzzle and board game title

  2. Great casino game. The menu is a little bit different than other hoyle games but it easy to get used to. Alot of fun. Makes a great Christmas gift.

Not alot of difference between this version and the 2005 but the 3d graphics are better and there are a few more options in facemaker. Overall I like it because it pretty much has all of the games that you would expect to find in a casino.

Pro’s – all the table games plus poker tournaments

Cons – I didn’t really like the slots except for the video poker.

I have bought Hoyle Casino for several years. While the graphics remained the same, the game still got better mainly from artificial intelligence. That is not to say the game is like a person, there are definitely quirks.

2009 changes the graphics finally, though I don’t think they are better, just different. Everything feels smaller. The poker tables are harder to follow because the cards and players are on top of each other. Another annoying part of casino comes with not being able to go “all-in” in poker. Last year, the option was deleted. While not restored, this year you can choose different values easier. Numerous things in the 2009 version are different, but not always better.

Overall, if you want a good casino game Hoyle is the best. If you played it before, save your money because you may not like these improvements. I would wait until the next version when they work out the bugs.

I have not done much with the online, so no opinion. I know when I installed the game, it took about an hour to download the updates (I have a very fast internet connection) because the hoyle site is very slow.

This is a review of the Mac OS X version for 2009. I never played the predecessors. I have played at real casinos and wanted to get a taste of it from time to time.

This is a low tech game that requires very little resources on my Macbook Pro (2.53 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HD). It uses 8% of my resources. It can run in full screen or in a window. There are various sound effects, including background noise, speech by the players, and sounds from the games. Speech by the players is rather limited and boring (5-6 phrases). I try to flirt with my female players but the dialogue gets repetitive and just cycles through the few phrases.

Three major categories are seen at the main menu: Table Games, Slots and Sports games/Keno. The use of the interface is intuitive, except for Horse Racing. The speech by the players gets redundant and the graphics are not much better than games created 10 years ago.

I entered the product code incorrectly. The code is case specific. You don’t necessarily find challengers online at all times of the day. There are scheduled times (9 Eastern Standard Time). There are not many players online whenever I go online to play. There is a chat mode, but I am not into online chatting. Thus most of my play will be from home without online interaction.

There are over a dozen different games with a handful of variations, each, which limits the boredom of game play.

You can create a player and customize his or her look based upon templates. There is a decent variety of customizing but it won’t be something that really looks like you. There are only a handful of voices for your character. You cannot import a picture or customize a face, like you can in EA Sports Titles (such as Tiger Woods 2008).

A small handbook covers the rules and strategies for each of the games. The strategies are rudimentary compared to real life but worth reading.

Overall, this game beats playing “Solitare” or “Pinball”. However, its graphics and lack of depth of character development detracts from the ambience of real casino play. I have placed the settings to keep almost all sound effects silent.

    CONCLUSION

This game is worth a try, as long as you keep the limitations in mind.
